I recently started in a new dept at work because my previous client had major reorganisation and restructuring. Work we’re supportive of me despite being the project manager and now have this internal move to an area I’m more familiar with however the prior project did make me known in the dept for the wrong reasons😕 anyway first week in and I’m already over resourced and they’ve given me a client who i have had prior knowledge of. They are totally unreasonable and are v title conscious! Their prior oversight director was based in the same country but he has resigned hence I take this project on from next week. They’ve already escalated the change despite me not even having started and again I feel I have my name in headlights with senior management through no fault of my own saying we’re not meeting their expectations. Senior management has to speak to them where I heard it ended up with our vp calling him an asshole! I’m supposed to speak to them next week so my question is how would you speak to them and what tips do you have to win them over? If I can make it work it would be great for me personally but I know they are so unreasonable. I spoke briefly to my new boss but I’m worried if their expectations of being available at all costs and night and day! My holidays are my holidays and without even speakering to me officially they have said they want my boss available to them 40 hours a week! She is on the same time zone as them and I cannot offer them that (she is 2 levels Above me). I don’t usually have any issues with clients and I have over 20 years experience! Should I try and win them over or say to my boss I don’t want to work with them? I already have several initiatives that is going to take up a lot of time and I’m not sure I can do this client too who by all accounts are micro managers and expect their issues to be resolved immediately!?

I dont understand most of your post. I think it would be a good idea to have a meeting with your clients and your boss to establish expectations of each other.
