Advice on how to find the dream job....

Hi, I’ve had an erratic couple of years work wise following redundancy at a company I was with for 7 years. They relocated to London and I was offered relocation or working away from home but it wasn’t right with a young family.
I’ve been seeking the impossible I think ever since, had a 3 day job but didn’t pay enough to make ends meet, then went to 5 days but it was so stressful it was affecting my home life. Now I’ve managed to get 4 days, the hourly rate is the worst since I was made redundant, but we manage. Culturally and ethically it’s not the right place for me, it’s negative and there is no structure. The role I went to do had changed quite dramatically and it’s not where I see my future. It’s also a different industry and I want to return to fmcg and retail where I have a great deal of experience.
I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place, I want 4 days as that gives me a day with my youngest where I take him to activities, and works better for work life balance. He goes to school in September and then I’d be more open to 5 days though would love a 1-2 school pick ups.
Am I chasing the impossible dream and how would I manage to get this balance and also a wage paying £13+ an hour?

I read some advise recently which was to write down all the reasons you applied for your current job, then write down your dream job and what you need to do to get there.
You could always find a job you love then apply for flexible working and drop down to 4 days. I’ve never been part time despite two under 4 but i can see the appeal. I work from home so I do the school run. Look for working from home flexible jobs if you can.
