I am having some problems with work and am possibly been missed out from doing a course that would lead to proomotion because I am part time. I know it usually comes under sex discrimination but how does that stand if it is a predominantly female work force?

It does not need to be sex discrimination - there is special legislation to protect part timers being treated less favourably than full timers in comparable roles. Raise it with HR.

MrsWho · 27/06/2007 14:18

Don't really have HR as it is a school

this might help, it guides you what to do next

Ribena is right, you are protected under the "Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment" Regulations

MrsWho · 27/06/2007 22:15

Thanks!

www.acas.org.uk is a good website. Have you spoken to your union?

RibenaBerry · 29/06/2007 12:45

I agree, most teachers are in one of the unions. Are you?

If not, raise it with the Head. It might have been an accidental balls up which the Head wants to fix. If it was the Head who did it, and you're not in the Union, think about contacting your local authority.

Phone ACAS, they're brill on phone and unbiased so just give you the facts

MrsWho · 29/06/2007 21:02
