Suspension troubles

I have been suspended from work pending investigation. i have had 2 allegations placed against me and have recieved a witness statement from the first allegation. However, the witness statement contains accusations against another 2 off my colleagues who i assume have also been placed on suspension. Does it not go against data protection act for me to see the accusations against other colleagues that does not involve myself? If i can see there accusations on the witness statement i can only assume my colleagues can see the allegation against me. Is this legal? I worry it wil damage my reputation further. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Can your union or h.r. advise you about this, someone must have asked for the witness statements and given advice to the people writing them.

Hr unfortunately have taken their time in replying to my email requesting i see the statement. They have asked if i want to come in an hour earlier than the meeting to view the document but I don’t think that is adequate time for me to prepare. I’m not sure if i can request the meeting be delayed till i have had amble time.

I would definitely check your assumptions with HR as they are currently assumptions because you have no way of knowing the other accused people have seen the same report where you are mentioned.

It could be they have revealed the information to you for the sake of full transparency, but you are right that the broad principles of GDPR are protection of identity, so by revealing your identity they have breached that principle.

You could take out a grievance, but to be honest, while you are in suspension under investigation (and depending on the severity of your case) the consequences to the employer won't be significant. I've known of some shocking data breaches where the company shrugs their shoulders and says a bland "sorry".

Provided it doesn't compromise justice, it would be better if you focus on ensuring you are given fair treatment. Sounds like HR are trying to be fair by giving you time before the meeting to view the document, but it sounds like that's the first time you've seen it?
