Take sick leave or resign?

I have worked for my current employer for 11 years with an excellent track record. I returned to work 6 months ago after having some time off for MH issues and personal circumstances. Returned to a new role with different managers who I believe are bullies and are trying to force me to resign. My union rep has suggested I ask to resign with three months pay or choose to go off sick due to work stress and take up to 6 months off then resign. What would you do?

I wouldn't listen you my Union rep to be honest! Deal with the issues at work. Have you spoken to the managers or HR?

I would not want to damage my work history with extended levels of leave unless I absolutely had to. So I would resign if the situation was untenable.

I am not saying it never happens, but as a manager myself, I honestly can say, I don't think it is part of management to go around trying to make people resign.

Do you want to resign? Seems like odd advice unless you are considering resigning to preempt being sacked.

What is your performance like not including periods of sick?

And what does your union rep gain by you resigning? I find this very strange advise as the first action should be to resolve issues.

Get your Union rep to help you formulate a grievance statement to submit either to your manager or via HR.

Don't resign. Keep your employment intact until your employer plays their hand, ie if they put you on a performance improvement plan or try to force you out. Don't let them make you resign, you'd be giving them the easy way out!

Err don't listen to union rep, don't they realise how blatant that would look? Raise a grievance and force them through the process.

Why will your employer give you 3 months pay if you resign? What's in it for them? Are you on 3 months notice? Usually notice is worked, not paid.
