Can you work in 2 schools?

Not myself, but basically my mom has been offered two jobs at two schools. One as a catering assistant and one as a cleaner. The hours dont clash at all, however before she speaks to them about their policies I am just asking on her behalf if this is something you can do, or generally is this not allowed?
Of course she will ask them, but wants to feel armed with about of knowledge before she has the conversation.

TIA x

Absolutely she can. If they are both local authority maintained schools, presumably they will be the same local authority so the same employer, and local authorities are perfectly used to employing people in more than one role at a time, very common.

If they are different employers because one or more of the schools is an academy, again it shouldn't be a problem. Perfectly normal for people to have more than one part time job in different places.

I had two part-time jobs in two different schools for five years, no problems.

thanks @jenthelibrarian
this will make her happy. she is returning to work after a number of years out. She was offered the one last week and the other today. It just means her income will be better

As a teacher it’s hard as some events may end up on days you don’t usually work at a school that you do need to attend, but in a support role it’s no problem at all.

Thank you.
She's keen to take on support roles as she wants to be available to help with childcare during the school holidays with my boy. The hours are the same for both just different times of the same but obviously will just bump up her income

Also, can anyone help me understand how it works when it comes to tax on both jobs?
I have always been led to believe that a second job is taxed more?
Her income wont be anywhere near her tax allowance annually so in my head she shouldn't pay tax. Is this correct? Or is if different when you have 2 jobs?
Also she hasn't worked for a number of years so doesn't have a p45 etc. Can she avoid paying tax on everything by filling any forms in?

Thank you

Tax is based on total income, so if her total income is under the personal allowance she won’t pay any tax. It’s possible she will pay tax initially (probably at 20% on both jobs) while the payrolls/HMRC sort everything out, but this will be refunded later. The best thing would be for her to ring HMRC and explain what’s happening and they will tell her what she needs to do/what forms she may need to complete.
