Should I go back to work as a teacher whilst TTC?

Hi ladies, I really need some advice please. I have two DC - aged 3 and 5 months. Since DC1 was born, I have not been back to work. I wanted to have all my family (planning on 3 LOs possibly even four if I can convince OH ) and then return to teaching.

However, it is becoming a bit of a struggle financially (although we can just about cope) and I'm breastfeeding, so have no idea how long my period will take to come back. It could be aaages before I can even start trying properly for number 3.

So - my dilemma is - should I apply for jobs in January (that is usually when they come up) for start dates in Sept next year or just wait and keep TTC. My concern is that if I get a job and then get pregnant, it will be messing my new employers around really badly and will reflect really badly on me. Anyone ever been in a similar position?

You can’t guarantee you’ll get pregnant. If you put your life on hold and it doesn’t happen straight away, it’s doubly miserable.

If you want to go back to work, don’t let TTC put you off.

That’s not to say you have to go back. It seems like you’ve got your hands full and teaching is always busy.

Oh hi there purpledaisies thanks for your reply. Sorry I'm a bit hopeless on mn- this is the first time I've ever posted on here.

Thank you for your thoughts. I think I might just apply and go for it, then see what happens.

Yes you could even sign up with a few agencies and do some supply work which could be flexible around the children.

Why not sign up to do substitute teaching? That way no employer/children are reliant on you, no messing around and might be easier to state what days you want to work etc and you might be able to start much earlier if your family is struggling financially at the moment.
