Senior woman in a male dominated company

Hello, Struggling for about the twentieth time this year with a "what to do" scenario. I'm a senior leader in a fairly large company to the point that I outrank my HR team so they are not all that useful for the things I'd like to discuss.

I'm also young and feel comparatively inexperienced in my role and within the company. Because of that I really don't want to go to my manager (the CFO) as I feel like he would see my uncertainties as a sign that I'm not up to the role (he has form for this).

Does anyone know of a forum or mentoring group for women in senior positions (preferably one where I could remain anonymous) that I could potentially join to try and discuss issues?

Another senior woman in a male dominated company here!

I haven't found a good formal avenue for this discussion, but in the last couple of years I have deliberately put time into networking with women at other companies in similar positions. That has filled some of the gap. I have seen a lot of women are very keen to talk through work issues with someone who understands not just the situation but also what it's like to navigate those as a woman in a male-dominated environment.

Would also love to hear other suggestions.

What industry are you in?

If you work in finance then wibf is a good society.

The only problem with networking events is the lack of anonymity.

I’d be interested in something similar though. Although I’d describe myself as middle of the food chain, I’m in a team with 150 men Confused

This forum is about as anonymous as it gets. You could outline any scenarios in general terms that are causing you issues and I bet there are a lot of people on here who've had to deal with similar stuff at some stage over the course of their career.

Although you're in a senior role and a woman, you're still a professional person. You could be narrowing your options by pidgeon-holing yourself too much.
