I work in a department for everyone, And am the only person who does my job. My manager refuses to acknowledge that I can't handle the workload. We are busier and busier and I'm pressured from all angles. She just forwards me the complaints as well, about things not getting done. ( and tells me " everyone is busy"..)
I'm making mistakes as I'm so rushed...and yes, getting hauled over the coals about that as well.

I've emailed, had sit down chats, had people sat looking at the workflow to see if we can simplify it ( this has never been alluded to again, it never gets any better).

I'm reluctant to leave as the hours and location suit my circumstances but it's just getting intolerable.

If I have time away, then it is all left for me,despite being time sensitive and I'm jumped on immediately to do " urgent" ones I.e..everything!

It ruins any time off I have because I know what I'll come back to.

I dont want a record of being off with stress, but im not sure i can do this anymore.

I think the time has probably come where the logistical advantages of the hours and location are being outweighed by the negatives, so you need to lose your reluctance to leave.

I bet your manager is very aware of the fact you want and need the job, and pushing you hard because you need them more than they need you. Unfortunately once a person is on the back foot in this kind of toxic unsupportive environment, where one person is the designated scapegoat and whipping-boy for untenable business processes and inhumane work load, they don't let up until the person has either broken down with stress or decides to leave the organisation.

I urge you to consider your health and life above this job, once you make the decision to move away from this team and find a different post, or leave the Company altogether you will feel the weight lifted from your shoulders.

Brush up your CV and think about what you want to do next, even if you cannot see beyond this job, there is life beyond, believe me. It is a sign of strength not failure to recognise when to walk away.
