It's a PA role, my guess is it's in Canary Wharf, although I don't know for certain.

Anyone know what type of salary they'd offer?

Maybe 26-30k based on experience?

MulderitsmeX · 15/10/2018 17:47

I skimmed a bit but is it a PA to an asset management team at HSBC?
40K if so plus bonus and benefits if perm.

How much experience do you have?

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 15/10/2018 17:50

In my company (also offices in Canary Wharf) that role would be around £28 starting salary, although I don’t know the addition for London weighting.

LilyMumsnet · 15/10/2018 17:57

We're just moving this over to employment issues at OP's request. Flowers

mimibunz · 15/10/2018 18:01

I would think no less than £45k.

mimibunz · 15/10/2018 18:02

Sorry, meant £35k.

forwhatyouare · 15/10/2018 18:05

Thanks all, I ask becaude I've been shortlisted to the next stage

It would be a brilliant career progression for me.

I'm currently a Medical Secretary, finding it extremely hard to get out of that sort of role as private sector aren't interested usually. I work for two consultants, both very demanding, high paced with 'anything goes' type of day. Constantly having to change my priorities, handle clinic diaries, dealing with a stroppy consultant if someone else is prioritised over him...

Before that I was a PA/Head of admin, for a dental surgery. Basically just dealing with anything and everything. Awful role.

Forgot to add, if people really think it's worth over £35K ( or 40K, shocked), then I have no place going for it.

I'm on £23K at the moment! Low pay because NHS but even still. I can't just jump that high.

I'm begin to wonder why they even shortlisted me. Do they have to shortlist a certain amount of people because of targets to meet?

Karachii · 15/10/2018 18:13

Of course you have a place going for it!!!

They wouldn't have shortlisted you if you weren't good.

Please don't be put off because you don't think you're worth it - that's their call.

I used to work in HSBC's HQ (not that team or role), and they're a really fair employer, and also very thorough in their hiring processes. They won't have shortlisted you for fun.

MulderitsmeX · 15/10/2018 18:16

No go for it you'll be great! You've got great experience and they already like you!

But yes it should be fairly decent pay amd should also attract a bonus of 15 ish percent. cw is ace to work in, such good lunch time shopping!

forwhatyouare · 15/10/2018 18:19

Oh, you two have brought a tear to my eye Thank you!

Sorry for all the typos, 1 year old jumping all over me as I type

Different sectors and different orgs pay the same role spectacularly differently.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking the size of the paycheck is in any way related to A. The job duties or B. The calibre of the person doing it

TheWiseWomansFear · 15/10/2018 18:21

It depends tbf, I have friends who earn £18k as PAs and friends who earn £27k doing the same

Violetroselily · 15/10/2018 19:01

I'm at another bank in CW and our PAs are on around 40k

Chewbecca · 15/10/2018 21:50

The job seems to have been removed. Is there a 'gcb' on the ad? It is a a 'global career band'. If it is a gcb6 or lower, there are pay scales. Gcb5 or higher is negotiable.

Ah, I see now it is GCB6. Will look it up and get back to you.
I wouldn't compare the salary to an NHS salary tbh, don't be put off. Presumably you'll need to travel to CW which takes additional time and money & needs factoring in.

Chewbecca · 15/10/2018 21:57

And, no, no targets re: shortlists. You've met the criteria they set.

HermioneWeasley · 15/10/2018 21:59

I would have thought a PA in Canary Wharf would be about the £35k mark

As others have said, don’t let your current salary put you off. A huge amount of the work will be diary management and arranging mee nags and travel. It will be really important to get on with other PAs so you can get stuff done for your boss/es, so be prepared to talk about how yo7 work well with others, etc. Also need to be proactive and take initiative.

Authenticcelestialmusic · 15/10/2018 22:01

Course you have a place going for it. Repeat that mantra (replace you with I) 10 times in front of the mirror!

Chewbecca · 16/10/2018 18:29

Sorry, salary for this grade is not fixed /published. Good luck!

stressedoutpa · 16/10/2018 19:39

£45k Wink
