Maternity leave and maternity pay

Hello,
I've got a bit of a tricky situation... I have been working for my boss for 2 years now, however recently (beginning of August) officially moved to a different company - my bosses second business.
Meaning officially according to contract I've only been working in this company for 2.5 months.

I am due end of May, so I will be just about eligible for maternity pay, however I was wondering if this would change if I told my employer about the pregnancy earlier than the legal minimum?

I am struggling with nausea and could easily work from home, however not without a valid reason so I was considering telling them early.
I don't want to risk my job or maternity pay though as my boss is very business focussed and won't pay a penny if he found a way not to be forced to by law.

Anyone hs an idea what the legal situation is here? I will be working for the company for 6 months by the time I have to tell them, but trying to find a way of not having to hide it for that long and still get my right for maternity leave and pay.

I'm grateful for any advice :)

As long as you will have been employed for 26 weeks by the 14th week before due date you are eligible fir smp and ml. It has nothing to do with when you tell them and you are entitled to paid time off for pregnancy related appointments, so it is common to tell them before then. Any specific enhanced pay schemes will have their own rules.

@LIZS perfect thank you that was the answer I was hoping for! I just couldn't find anything online to confirm this!
