Head hunter.

motherinferior · 14/06/2007 13:00

Journalist.

WITH childcare. I work four days a week.

LordVenger · 14/06/2007 13:03

Journalist, girls of 6 (big school) and 3 (nursery five mornings a week). Work at the kitchen table while they're away, and pretty much every evening when they've gone to bed. It's hard, but then, so much more preferable to anything else (and the joy you feel when you score a couple of hours off, and take them swimming when everyone else is in an office is intense).

Rubyslippers · 14/06/2007 13:05

fundraiser 3 days at home at 2 days at the office
yes you can do it with great childcare

Nip · 14/06/2007 13:08

Sales Rep - a mixture of office and home at the moment but intend on being home full time soon.

escape · 14/06/2007 13:10

I write copy for brochures/sites/ads etc and scripts for radio and tv commercials.
its great, but bizarrely, wouldn't mind some actual structure to my week.
I have childcare 4 mornings a week. DD is at school and DS1 (20 mnths) and DS2 (7mnths) are at home.
I'm freelance, so if anything urgent comes in late morning, I'm a bit buggered (I don't like to turn things down!)
basically work mornings and after kids are in bed

Boco · 14/06/2007 13:12

Illustrator. I work one full day a week, then most evenings, and sometimes get some weekend time. Have a 2 yr old and 5 yr old.

slowreader · 14/06/2007 13:23

I do. I am a writer. I have done it for 13 yrs. Have ds1 and dd10. Can't pretend it easy- even now they are older. DS eg is home sick at the moment- had to fetch him from school. Still, it is a blessing in school holidays. You have to learn to switch on and off v quickly.

slowreader · 14/06/2007 13:23

Sorry, ds 14!! (much harder than 1)

TooTicky · 14/06/2007 13:26

Boco!
Slowreader, what sort of things do you write? I write stories for children but nothinmg publishable yet.

2 days a week, 3 days in the office. I work in IT for a food manufacturers - in E-commerce mostly. I can do it just as well at home as in work and it takes a lot of the pressure off. Not always easy with a LO at home too but we've learned to accomodate each other.

itwasntme · 14/06/2007 13:30

Translator/proofreader.

One dd (3) and another on the way

It's good and flexible, but hard work. I'm supposed to be working now on a particularly long and tricky document, and have dd won't stay in bed for her nap.

I work when I have work!

itwasntme · 14/06/2007 13:34

should have read "and dd won't stay in bed for her nap".

TooTicky · 14/06/2007 13:34

Do you do proofreading on its own or just in combination with translation? I think I could do proofreading, but those adverts for courses that guarantee huge earnings just don't look trustworthy. Anyway, I can't afford a course atm

OP posts:
lucyellensmum · 14/06/2007 14:18

itwasntme - how did you get into the proof reading, i dont have a second language, or even an spattering of another language (shame emoticon) but proof reading may be good for me, i have science background and educated to PhD level.

TooTicky · 15/06/2007 17:10

Anybody else?

OP posts:
littlerach · 15/06/2007 17:19

Very little job, as clerk to the governors at local comprehnesive school. I do one evenng a week in school, and the rest of the time it is at home, usually via email.
Not the most interesting job, though I have klearned a great deal, or the besy paid but is ideal for my situation.

deuxcheekymonkeys · 15/06/2007 17:21

Volunteer manager for a charity. A couple of days a week (but because I fart around so much I end up doing a bit nearly every day).

Children go to a chilminder after school once or twice a week and sometimes to breakfarst club, just because they like it.

trice · 15/06/2007 18:12

I do book keeping and write newsletters (total misnomer) for the family businesses.
