So dd17 finished school last year , she has mild learning disabilities, ADHD and anxiety.

Education was not easy for her, she finished college in June, tried to apply for another course but was told she wasn't academic enough to do a level 2 course in a practical subject as she can't get maths or English.

So she's desperate for work, I have completed her cv and help her apply for all jobs, 99% don't get back to her, the 1% she gets an interview then they never get back to her. She can't even do an apprentiship as you now need maths and English for this.

Her confidence is at an all time low she has an EHC plan which doesn't appear to be helping either. Anyone got have any advice or know any good employers in south east that will consider people without maths and English?!

I'm not going to lie she does struggle with rules and boundaries but has reigned her attitude in somewhat. She is quite defensive and because she's so down on herself she expects others to be and almost prempts it.

I can't go into full details as it's very identifying but she has had a horrific 3 years and just needs to be good at something and get a boost !

OP have you looked at NEET courses? I used to teach one and it provided maths and English skills but no quals- would something like this help her get on to her Animal Care L2 course?
I’m not surprised they only offered her construction, I’m guessing it was L1. This seems to be somewhere they can “shove” students rather than giving them the support they need to complete the course they want to complete.

Has she looked into traineeships? They’re not paid but can be a stepping stone into paid employment or an apprenticeship for those without much work experience and gaps with maths and/or English.

Thanks I'll look she is feeling a bit dejected by education !

Everyone bangs on about equality but where is it?! If your not academic you can't even do practical courses anymore , it's shit!

I know GSK did this last year and am assuming it will run again. It's a June start date though and Brentford might not be easy for you
