Pitching to a national chaity - how to stop them pitching my idea!

I've got a meeting coming up tomorrow with a big national charity following an idea I've had about delivering activities. The charity are really interested in the idea and are talking about the potential of rolling it out nationally. I'm concerned that they might just pinch my idea and do it themselves or find some way to deliver the sessions without me. I'm used to delivering projects myself rather than going through a big provider so am out of my usual comfort zone and somewhat inexperienced in negotiating.

Is there some kind of pre contract agreement template or something I could take with me to the meeting which might help protect me and the plans I'm going to be discussing with them? Anyone else had this before? I'm really unsure how guarded to be about it? Any suggestions for how to proceed. I'm sure they're fine really, I'm just catatastrophising!

bumping for you, no advice but sounds tricky.

Be upfront and set out what you would like your role to be.

Do not load your powerpoint onto their PC or laptop.

Don't hand out your materials.

The only actually viable method is to have already had an NDA in place before you started - but from your description you've gone past that, shown them the idea. Implementation is now up to them, you have no particular rights to an idea, all you can do is persuade them to have you as the lead implementor.
Fortunately while ideas are ten a penny, making them work is hard work and drudgery. So you're in a good position.

Thanks everyone. I guess I'll see how it goes

Good luck today, let us know how it goes.

Probably too late but be flexible in the meeting and really listen to what they're thinking. For eg, if they want to roll the project out nationwide, would you/could you actually deliver that? In that situation, I'd be suggesting a pilot (run by you), some sort of deliverable afterwards (like a project plan) and then a fee to license the idea to the charity, or you work as a central project co-ordinator.

You're in a brilliant position bc you've had an idea they like, it's now about building that up in a mutually beneficial way. Good luck!
