Job Interview tomorrow - what else do I need to know?

It's for a Learning Support Assistant.

I've done a bit of research but want to be prepared for what else they might throw at me.

I know I'll be up against people who already work in this area, so I want to give it my best shot.

Sorry Rhubs - no idea, but just wanted to say hope the interview goes well and give you a bump.

Don't mention that you're so ruthless you'd do anything to sleep with a married man. Don't flirt and flutter your eyelids at the panel. And remember, if you're going to have to relocate, remember to check with your parents first.

Sorry, couldn't resist that, only kidding. (You did see The Apprentice didn't you?). Haven't got any real advice, but wishing you luck.

hi!

good luck for your interview.

ive just finished a course towards my degree, and the course was 'supporting primary education'

It was al about LSA's.

There is a greta website for LSA's. If you google LSA and pop in the search uk only, it should come up with the address.

they will probasbly ask you what you knw about goverment guidelines, such as equal ops etc.

you can check this out at the education site of the gov.co.uk website.

I think the best you can do is be confident, smiley and say why you want to be an LSA.

They are mostly looking for outgoing confident people who want to help young people learn and make that learning a fun expereince.

have i helped?

Rhubarb · 11/06/2007 16:00

Yes you have - thank you!

Kinki I was worried that you knew me personally for a minute there!

Just realised that I have left work and forgotten to get copies of my CRB check and relevant course certificates that I have.

I'll have to nip over later on tonight and get them.

It's for secondary.

I have taught at secondary in France. Will go on about doing my own lesson plans, working with no supervision, communicating with children whose first language is not English etc.

I have a brother with learning difficulties so have empathy with the families and understand the need to work closely with them and take their concerns into consideration.

I've done a Child Protection Course so am ok with those Qs. Any more they might ask?

Yes, I do have plenty of examples to give, like the time one of my students fell asleep in class stinking of grass. Major distraction to pupils. I left him there and carried on, figured it would be more disruptive to try and wake him. Class calmed down. Finished lesson and went and reported him.

Gawd I miss those teenagers!

And should I wear tiny shorts and a vest with no bra?

OP posts:
Aloha · 11/06/2007 16:24

Good luck (remember your bra)!

Nothing to add.

But you go girl you are wonderful.

Rhubarb · 11/06/2007 20:34

Aw thank you!

I'm not going to get my hopes up too high as I'll probably be up against people already working in this field. But I'll give it my best shot anyway.
