Consultancy agreement

Hi, posted this in freelance but go almost no traffic...

I've been freelance my entire working life (25 years). I've had a variety of contracts/consultancy agreements over that time, usually just sign and be gone with it.

I've had a long standing client with whom I had a small run in a few months ago. At the time, they had never issued freelancers with contracts. They have since decided to issue us with consultant agreements.

For the first time ever, I've wondered if I need to get a solicitor to look over it.

This could cost a lot. Is it usual for people to do this?

I've employed a fair few freelancers, and no one has ever told me that they have had a solicitor look at the contract.

It wouldn't bother me if they did, though.

Thank you!

I don’t think it’s massively unusual where there are significant amounts of money or complex terms and conditions involved. It partly depends on the individuals confidence and knowledge about interpreting contracts.

Is there anything particularly concerning you in the agreement?
