Looking for advice 're maternity leave and discrimination

Hi, been lurking for a while now 😏 and now looking for advice please.
I finished up for maternity leave in 2010 and took approx 9 months off, returning in 2011. When I finished up for mat leave they advertised my supervisors role and were not successful so they increased the pay and managed to fill the position. On my return to work in 2011 they kept the supervisor they had replaced me with on as the supervisor and I became a sales assistant (I have no idea why I didn't question this at the time but could be something to do with a member of my immediate family being my manager) I still work with the same supervisor who I was replaced with and i am still doing the same job and more than I was doing before finishing up on maternity leave. My manager (family member) has just retired and I would be interested in approaching the company I work for and questioning them about this. If the supervisor they had replaced me with had been kept on because she was good at her job I could understand but she really is crap! I'm working for less money and doing treble the work. My husband has bugged me for years to take this further with the company, I think I've missed any chance of getting this rectified. Any advice greatly received.
Thanks for reading 🤗🤗

It doesn’t sound right, but I can’t see anyone doing anything about it after 7 years.

I thought that was the case. It's only started really bugging me lately as the supervisor is constantly off sick and really is hopeless so I end up doing my own job and hers when I'm there. The company I work for aren't the best but are starting to get their act together a bit now. I've been there 20 years last month and was rewarded with a certificate with my name spelt wrong 😂😂

You need to contact pregnant then screwed

NewIdeasToday · 04/08/2018 18:13

You really can’t raise this seven years later. You needed to stick uu for yourself at the time.

Seconding a PP's comment - look up Pregnant Then Screwed on Instagram - they can put you in touch with a free legal helpline

Bombardier25966 · 04/08/2018 18:22

Even if there were exceptional circumstances (there aren't), the OP is years too late to bring legal action. She's also accepted her new position through working in it for seven years.

Don't waste a charity's time on a pointless quest.

Thanks for the replies! Thought that would be the case. The company is changing and with a new boss all I'm wanting is recognition of what I'm doing. The company do rely on me as I'm the only one trained for quite a few of the big jobs in the shop so hopefully that will happen soon now that the new boss is on board. I need to learn to be pushy and say my bit at the time. I found it hard with family member being my boss so hopefully this will work out well. Thanks again everyone 😊
