Having a moan

I'm having one of those days where I regret not taking offers at work to promote. I wanted money. I wanted a family - I have 5 month old twins. I'd been taken advantage of and bullied out of a previous job and wanted a decent wage for a while - training would mean taking a cut and then no guarentee of paid work locally.

I'm going back to work 2 days a week in October but the wages are dire and I can't afford childcare. I have a master's degree and tried my best in school and in my 20s. Why is it so difficult to find decent, well paid work?

maybe whilst your babies are young you need to think about working around your partners work hours so you don't have childcare costs. Or look and see if there is any help you can get through child tax credits or Universal credits to help pay for childcare costs.

I'm amazed you have a post graduate qualification and not able to apply that somehow. You're already ahead of many people with degrees, it's how you show it off on your CV in terms of using the skills you gained from your MA / MSc, applied to what companies might need (ie making it relevant). Can you market yourself better?

Can you start your own business? That is what I did after ds, and am still doing it 8 years later.

What is your degree in ? Could you teach ?
