Where to get CV help

I'm a professional in the same job since 2006. I think it's time for a change but i've done nothing really for 12 years...

Where do you go for help with your CV? Do you have to pay for it?

I walked into my job in 2006 & clearly didn't deserve it so now I find myself in a pickle.

There's no need to pay for someone to write your CV for you when there are plenty of great resources out there.

Just one example here - what I like about this site is that it gives advice on each section, including content and format. And it's geared towards current thinking and what recruiters look for today.

Why do you feel you didn't deserve your job, if you've been doing it all these years, you must be doing something right! Smile

Thats a good website!

Thank you so much @daisychain01

Well, they were super short of people with my qualifications and I wanted a job... the interview was more of a "can you hold yourself together whilst we ask you very simple questions?" and I could so... but i think I'm actually alright at it as loads of people leave every year and I'm still doing ok... just unfulfilled!

I have bookmarked the website and I'm going to get to work on it.

I really appreciate your advice Smile

It's fab, isn't it redexpat so relevant and step by step. CV'ing is such a popular topic on here, I hope it helps people.

slightly get cracking on your CV and get fulfilled Smile - hope you find something to use your skills to the max.

That is a great website. I have just refreshed my cv with the help of someone in recruitment and everything on that website rang true. I worked on my base cv for a week on and off and got help with editing and refining- i undersold myself initially.

Once you have a good strong base cv you can then adapt it with the words in the job spec you are interested in. If you accept at the outset that it is something that cannot be done in one sitting, it is a lot less painful! Have a good session getting all the basics diwn then refine, refine refine.
