suspended for gross misconduct but then received a letter stating sorry we made a mistake.

would you still trust that employer? it's caused undue stress and financial worry all for their mistake not mine and they know my history of work related stress

Honestly, it would depend on the circumstances. Were you suspended , they investigated and found there were no grounds. Was it based on someone lying/setting you up?

Do you have a union or have you spoken to a.c.a.s. I would want a formal letter of apology, will you receive any compensation for the distress they caused you, did you lose out financially at all with overtime or anything like that. Was it a genuine concern at first or a false allegation made against you. If it was a genuine concern and they followed the correct procedure I would consider going back, if it was a false or malicious allegation I would be putting in a formal grievance. Is it a large organisation where if you did go back you could ask for a transfer if you feel uncomfortable.
