Actually if i copy and paste the job ad, can you all tell me wether as a person with very slight relevant experiance (ex childminder), no driving licence and no qualifications, wether you'd apply or not.

'An opportunity has arisen for School Nurse Assistant to work with the school nurse team. If you have enthusiasm and commitment to work with children and young people this could be an opportunity to use and develop your skills. The successful applicant must be self motivated and have excellent communication skills. You need to be able to work within a team and on your own initiative. Ideally educated to NVQ level 3 but training and an induction programme will be provided. Successful applicants are required to provide an enhanced disclosure. Disclosure expense will be met by employer.'

If I could get the job based on how much i'd love it then id' be ok LOL.

it doesn't say you need to be able to drive. can you ring on tuesday to ask?

NuttyMuffins · 27/05/2007 14:40

Yeah will have to ring the job center though as no contact details. Need to find out where in Brum it would be too.

If you're an assistant maybe you would n't have to drive yourself as you'd accompany someone else. Apply anyway, they haven't said it is essential and if it is maybe they'd part fund a course.

stargate · 27/05/2007 21:42

apply. in the app pack it will list the essential and desirable for the job. i suspect nvq3 and driver are desirable. as long as you can use local transport you should be fine - i guess a major role will be going into school and doing things like all the 5yr old weight and height checks and filling in the red books, then reporting back to the nurse. maybe head lice talks etc.

stargate · 27/05/2007 21:44

oh and you have lots of transferable skills from childminding.

tiredemma · 28/05/2007 20:21

NUTTY- its on the NHS jobs site with more info (job description)

school nurse asst

click on job description

tiredemma · 28/05/2007 20:22

oh- its Stockland green Health centre btw.

NuttyMuffins · 28/05/2007 21:03

Woo hoo, thanks loads emma, that means I can apply online with them instead of applying through the job centre.

SG health centre isn't to far either, used to registered there when I had Dd1.

Am slightly worried about the nvq bit, but I am more than willing, infact would welcome the chance to be trained up.

Just checked the specification and it says car driver advantagous.......argh I want this bloody job, and I bet 99% of it is based in the health centre from what I have just read of the duties.

I am due to start my lessons very soon, still waiting my new glasses, so shall I put that I am having lessons ??

Anyone ?? How can I sell myself without looking desperate ??? I would be SO happy if i got this job, i can't say just how much it would mean to me.

OP posts:
tiredemma · 28/05/2007 21:10

Put that you are currently learning to drive. The health centre will only be responsible for schools within that locality so most will be a walking distance or a bus ride away.

There was a school nurse asst at warren farm when I was there who didnt drive, so I dont think its vital.

NuttyMuffins · 28/05/2007 21:12

Ahh ok, ta.

Need to try and fill up the supporting info section.

tiredemma · 28/05/2007 21:15

good luck.

what happened about the vol work at the school?

NuttyMuffins · 28/05/2007 21:20

Nothing has happened with it at the mo. I have rang the school about 50 times, left numerous messages for the deputy, left all of my numbers but no one gets back to me, and I can't seem to get to speak to the deputy at all. I suggested just dropping by at a convienient time, but was told that i'd need an appointment.

im looking for different work, the bupa place i work at is killing me!

NuttyMuffins · 28/05/2007 21:37

Oh no, thats a shame, although I can see why, from what I have heard of the place.

OP posts:
NuttyMuffins · 28/05/2007 21:40

Right, have done it and sent it so fingers majorly crossed.

Got a vague recollection that one of Dd1's friends mums may be a practice nurse at SC health centre, must see if i can find out.

OP posts:
tiredemma · 28/05/2007 21:46

its not so bad...the gloves thing was an issue ( no gloves to nurse residents with gastro)- its just the night shift with trying to study. fucking nightmare.

fingers crossed for you- looks like a fab job

stargate · 28/05/2007 22:07

NuttyMuffins · 28/05/2007 22:11
