How long should it take for resignation to be agreed?

I handed my notice first thing Tuesday morning I have asked 3 times my manager to agree the leave date its a week or so earlier than my notice on my contract the leave date is on my letter. I keep being told looking into it but I need to agree start date with my new employer.
Should I assume this date is fine and comfirm start date with new employer ? I don't want to keep asking .
Also most of staff only need to give 1 week notice but my contract is 1 month.
I feel she is a bit pissed off with me and is taking work off me so I've not much to do so basically I'm on mumsnet .
advise please I need to sort asap .

I think it's reasonable for them to take a few weeks to agree your last day tbh and the safest thing to do is tell your new employer you'll be held to your full notice and provide the start date based on that. It's irrelevant what notice your colleagues have. I'm an employment lawyer btw - your employer isn't obliged to let you go early.

But in reality there isn't a tremendous amount your old employer can do if you do choose to give them a shorter notice period. Is your offer from your new employer still conditional on a reference from them? If not then in practice they won't be able to do anything to you if you left early

You can't assume your employer will release you early from your contractual notice, no, you should assume they won't until they say yes they will. It's only Thursday morning so having asked three times since Tuesday morning seems a bit over the top. Maybe check again next week?

You've asked the question, either they'll agree it or they won't. Tell your new employer a start date after your full notice period then if your manager agrees to release you early, notify your new employer.

Ive just e-mailed again to ask .
If they want me to do full notice thats fine just need it confirming .

Not sure about reference but I can't see why I would get a bad one she said was upset that I'm leaving how good employee I was .
I'm trying to be professional and happy to do full notice but isnt it polite to agree leave date asap ?

I always tell them my leaving date in the letter.

I calculate the date from the notice period, and if I want to leave early, I would already have booked the last week or two as leave before handing my notice in, thereby reducing the notice period.

If I don't want to leave early, I calculate how many days leave will be owed, and tell them that I will expect x days leave to be paid in the last pay run.

I have put the leave date in letter and asked to confirm.
I don't think I have accured enough annual leave to use as holidays but I just want to be paid up to leave date and any holidays calculated or deducted if I have gone over.
