Redundancy following merger

I have been TUPE across following the merger of my company with another similar one and a month later I was told that I would be made redundant due to duplication. Basically there were duplicates at each level but they picked up the Finance Director position and made mine redundant. The reason I was made redundant was that during the merger negotiations, my CE was offered the CE position of the new with the condition that the next most senior one goes on the other side.
The merger negotiations took place in October, I was TUPE across on 5 March and announced about redundancy on 17 April. The CE and COO positions went through selection but not the FD. The most upsetting part of this is that the person who took the FD position has 7 years less experience and she is clearly not able to handle this position. During the transition & integration I was asked to do the most technical and complex tasks. I feel used & abused, lied to , discriminated against. I am determined to go all the way through an employment tribunal but I would like some advice on how to negotiate/ ask for a settlement agreement. They offered me a full time position paid £42k less than what I used to get while they paid the new FD an extra £30k. They also offered me a part time consultancy contract (still waiting to hear how many hours and at what rate). I am thinking that if I accept the part time consultancy I would not have grounds to go through the employment tribunal. I intend to keep my head up and not accept pittance after what I have been going through but at the same time, I am worried about the future and the part time consultancy would tempt especially if I am thinking to set up my own business. There are a few issues I am raising here but please do get back with any advice you might have. Thank you

boysmama, I'm aware you posted a month ago without reply but I suggest you repost in employment issues or even chat fir more traffic.

From experience redundancy can be awful and in my case I won an appeal as I had been victimised.

Have you any news on your current fight?
