Fixed term ending, how do I get time out for interviews?

Fixed term contract ending soon, I'm busy applying for new jobs which because they are in the education sector are for Sept starts but interviewing now. How do I get time out from current employer to attend interviews? I have no holiday to take and wouldn't be allowed it anyway as it's a really busy time at work. Just seems unfair that I'll find it difficult to go to an interview . Or should I just be honest with my employer as its fixed term and they know i am leaving and offer to make up the hours?

Negotiate with them, they will know you need to seek new employment. Unpaid leave or make up the hours.

I had this with a member of staff and as long as they made up the hours I was happy for them to go for interviews whenever they needed to. Good luck

What does your contract or terms and conditions say about time off for interviews? Speak to your Head and discuss it with them if you get an interview. It’s hardly a unique situation.

Or arrange the interview for after school.

I work st s university and people on short term contracts are able to take time out so check your contract and the STC policy in the website and see what you're entitled to

Thanks for the advice. I'd much rather be honest with them up front. They know I can be trusted to make up hours. bubbles you assume incorrectly I work in a school now. I work in education support, so full time hours. Am seeking a job at a school for that very reason! Couldn't see anything in my contract, hence I wondered what others did in similar situations.
