Should I take this job?

My youngest child is 3.8 years.

My DH is working freelance after having recently been made redundant but is now earning a lot less than he used to. He is working on average 2 or 3 days a week.

The salary is £24,000 and the job is very easy, I could do it standing on my head.

It is only 5 minutes walk away from my house.

I still feel like saying no. I really don't want to be a full-time WOHM.

Or should I just get real?

Unless dh can make ends meet on his pt salary, aren't you going to have to go back? At any rate, 3.8 is not too bad to have to leave behind.

Give yourself a 6 month period to see if you can bear it and allow your dh to build up his freelance career.

do it fer a bit - then jack it if you don't like.

DimpledThighs · 20/05/2007 23:15

yes you should

Frizbe · 20/05/2007 23:17

Yes take it. You'll figure out a balance as you go along. If you really decide you don't like the change in a few months, then you can always say, sorry it wasn't for me after all, in the meantime you have more cash in the bank!

Why not try it and see how things work out.

I hate to say it but after 26 weeks you could apply to reduce days/hours under flexible working. Suggest you get in there, impress them so much that they want to keep you and agree to let you reduce your hours

Take it and see how it goes. It's great to be offered, on a plate, the chance to get back into work. I was and it felt brilliant. I took the job, was laid off in nine months, but am now freelance and am still really grateful to have been given such an easy passage back into the world of work.

I say, give it a go. Though I am biassed - I like my work! I can see that if you didn't like the job it would be much much harder to leave the LOs. As others said, you can always resign, or ask for flexible working later.

If you are going to have to work sooner or later, will anything better be likely?
