Hello,
I have resigned from my position and currently working my 3 months notice. I want to ask for an early release asap because this job overall has been very traumatic and I cant handle going there everyday. Its been very bad for my health and make me feel sick. The company have relocated me for this role and they literally took me through hell, then I quit only a few months later because of their very bad ethics. I have now been removed from most of my projects and therefore feel pretty much useless all day long. Finally, they are asking for a refund of the relocation fees but my contract stipulate that I would provide a refund shall I remains in the country, which is not the case. It a complex situation and all I want is to move on as soon as possible and forgot about it all. I am afraid of asking my boss to let me go so Im not sure whats next from there. Any precious advices? Thanks

Can you get signed off sick for the remainder of your notice period, if you are too unwell to work?

Re Finally, they are asking for a refund of the relocation fees but my contract stipulate that I would provide a refund shall I remains in the country, which is not the case. if you were relocated and those costs settled by the company, does your contract state if there is a period of time you must remain in post in the country? Normally it gives a duration of obligation eg you must remain in post for at least 1/2/3 years

How much longer of the 3 months left have you got? Do you have any holiday you could use up in that time?

Just be careful about being signed off with stress unless it is truly genuine. You have to declare that on things like life insurance & mortgage applications. So if it's not genuine it's I wouldn't do it.

Thanks for your reply. I have 2 1/2 months to go. Don't think I would have much holidays because I only been there for 6 months. I feel totally burnout and exhausted and overwhelmed by the all situation so I think I could easily get off sick in all honesty but I hate the idea of it. For example this morning I feel very much lightheaded and very weak and I know its related.

The relocation stipulate that if I resign within 24 months but remain in the relocation country then i have to pay back 100% of the fee.

”I am afraid of asking my boss to let me go so Im not sure whats next from there”

You’re just going to have to do it. No one is going to release you early unless you ask the question. If they’re taking work away from you that implies they don’t desperately need you to stay, in which case they’d probably welcome saving a couple of months salary by letting you go early.

are you planning on leaving the country?
