Does anyone have any experience of Digital Mums? They run a course for social media management. I don't have any experience but apparently you don't need any particular skills. I have a degree and in a profession but like most is not very family friendly!

thanks

I’m sure I’ve read on here before about it not being great although I haven’t experienced it myself. I can’t help thinking if it’s open to anyone with no pre requisites it won’t be a high standard iyswim.

Thanks, yes, a bit worried I could spend hours retraining to find I have a useless qualification. I wasn't sure whether the people that had done well did so because they already had connections in terms of getting work after.

It’s definitely interesting but I’d like to hear what the post course employment rates are really. I’ve looked as I do social media for my own business but very much self taught and I wondered if it’s something I could do alongside but I’m just not convinced about it!

There is a section on the website but as its self employed its not quite the same as X number of people got a job in this area so difficult to say I think which does concern me somewhat.

Hi Mamaslatts and EnglishGirlApproximately. Just saw your questions on here and thought I'd answer some of them from Digital Mums direct. Our training is 100% geared around getting mums job-ready, although as with any training we can't guarantee jobs at the end of it. What we can say is that 8 in 10 of our graduates have found flexible work thanks to us within 12 months of graduating. That said the course isn't for the faint hearted and it's definitely worth doing your research before signing up to make sure it's the right fit for you and what you want to do. We have Mums from a range of career backgrounds who complete our training and go on to have successful careers in social media and beyond! Some do already have a marketing or comms background but a lot don't. You can read more on our blogs (link below). It's also worth having a look at the Digital Mums grad blogs on Medium (link below). These aren't monitored or posted by us and it's a good way to get an understanding of what the training involves. You can also contact graduates direct there for impartial insight on our training. Another good place to look if you're on Instagram is under the #MeetTheSocialPro. This is a campaign created by a number of our graduates to showcase why their skills are in demand. Hope this helps. Happy to answer more questions if you want to direct message me, though! Thanks, Nikki CoFounder

Hi, I have done the course and what I failed to check was the average pay. Yes, it's possible to work from home but the pay is generally low as a social media manager: www.payscale.com/research/UK/Job=Social_Media_Manager/Salary
I pay my cleaner £12/hour.

You also have to consider if you will need any childcare ££. Work that works is not with a child around.

I am working with a few clients from home and it is manageable. Although I feel lucky to have found them via existing connections. Also, the money I make is not critical for our budget/expenses.

Have you considered looking for similar roles in your field that you could apply for now? There are businesses out there that are more flexible.
