Informing insurers of WFH

Hi, please can anyone advise on the ramifications of informing/not informing home insurance providers when working from home? I've not got round to it yet and wasn't sure if my premium was likely to increase.
Thanks

It depends what sort of work you're doing. If you are for example running a physiotherapy business in your front room and having people coming and going all day, yes you'll need to tell them and you'll probably need public liability insurance too.

If you're like me and are a freelancer working at home, everything is done online, I never have customers coming to the house, no equipment apart from laptop, no stock, no deliveries etc then I see no need to tell them at all. I'm not "running a business". I'm working at home as a sefl-employed freelancer.

Just office work from time to time is usually acceptable. Full time working from home is usually ok if not a high risk occupation and you don't have stock, expensive equipment or visitors.
Failure to inform your insurer will invalidate your policy. If you have to claim and a loss adjuster turns up on your doorstep to deal with it (and they like to turn up out of the blue), they will see you work from home and declare your policy null and void.

Thanks both and apologies for the very late acknowledgement. Will mention at the next renewal. Thanks
