£22 - £26k in my area

seventh · 01/05/2018 21:31

topcat2014 · 01/05/2018 21:41

35-40I for that number of staff
Minimum

dramaqueen · 01/05/2018 21:44

We would pay anywhere between £28k - £35k depending on the level of responsibility

SmilingButClueless · 01/05/2018 21:45

Managing front line staff directly, or front line staff team leaders?

leghairdontcare · 01/05/2018 21:45

Contact centre, probably 25-30k.

LemonyFresh · 01/05/2018 21:46

Managing front line staff (15 email advisors)

Job title is team manager.

In NW you would get £25k with 5 yrs + experience or from £20k if less experience.

LemonyFresh · 01/05/2018 21:50

I have been in this role for 6 months.

I'm on £17.5k which I feel is far too low but I don't know how to approach it with my bosses.

£25 - £35k depending on specific industry and experience in that case. Possibly a bit less if the job is advertised as “competitive salary” as that often means it isn’t...

suckonthatmaureen · 01/05/2018 21:53

Our call centre managers are on 30k. Same JD and number of staff.
There's 3 of them operating different sections, their manager is on iro 40k
We're in the north west.

17.5k is low. The call centre advisors are on a starting salary of 19k

DuchyDuke · 01/05/2018 21:55

Inexperienced Call centre service team managers get paid 18-25k usually, depends on the industry though. I wouldn’t consider 17k too low considering you have only been doing the role 6 months. In some industries / companies Managing 15 call centre staff isn’t considered as much of a responsbility as other types of staff, because automatation does a lot of the management for you; and rules are so strict you can’t often apply managerial judgement.

EmmaC78 · 01/05/2018 21:56

I would say about £25,000. £17,500 does seem low. Do you have an annual appraisal where you could raise this?

ruddynorah · 01/05/2018 22:00

What are your team members paid?

leghairdontcare · 01/05/2018 22:01

Did you get 'promoted' from the advisor role? I've known people to do that and basically had no or negligible payrise but they've done it and enjoyed punching down. Some contact centres have a brutal culture. Have you compared to other similar roles in your area? Check places like Indeed or LinkedIn.

LemonyFresh · 01/05/2018 22:03

Ruddynorah They're on £17100

OP posts:
ruddynorah · 01/05/2018 22:06

Are there published pay bandings for each tier or role? They're on 17100 and you're on 17500??! Did you used to be a team member or did you go on as a manager?

LemonyFresh · 01/05/2018 22:07

I got promoted after being an advisor.

JontyDoggle37 · 01/05/2018 22:09

How you approach it with your managers is as follows:

  1. apply for new jobs
  2. get new job offer at £35-40k
  3. decide if you like current company enough to stay or if you’d welcome a move
  4. if you want to stay: use new offer to get your salary matched
  5. if you want to go, hand in your notice and point out if they’d paid you properly in the first place, you’d Still be there...
Oblomov18 · 01/05/2018 22:11

The 17,500 seems incredibly low, staggeringly, compared to the 17,100.

LemonyFresh · 01/05/2018 22:12

What gets me is that the managers who get hired as a manager are on £20k+

OP posts:
Hogtini · 01/05/2018 22:13

What the funk? Your staff that you line manage are only on £400 less than you?!
Have a look on job search sites to compare. That seems very low.

NoSquirrels · 01/05/2018 22:15

If you know that other managers are on £20k+, then you need to ask for parity. Did you not negotiate a pay rise when you took on the extra responsibility?
