Utterly confused - retraining as CBT therapist

Who is it I want to be accredited by? BACP or BABCP?

Do I do a foundation degree or a diploma?

Ultimately I'd like to be employable by the NHS...

A PWP is someone who provides low intensity CBT. So we see individuals with mild-moderate depression, anxiety, OCD ETC). We would also see those individuals over a shorter period (6 weeks for 30 minutes at a time). All of our work is based on CBT but incorporates self help measures.

In terms of the level 1 course- I assumed that was in counselling which is different to working as a CBT therapist. To get more info I would go on Clinpsy forums!

Be mindful of what course you pay for as many will not be accredited and it would be difficult to find work in the NHS!

Planning do you currently have an undergrad?

Greenglass- can I ask why you think you would not need a core profession to train as a CBT therapist with the NHS? I currently work in IAPT and that is the case as far as I know.

Myself & many of my colleagues who are cbt therapists both in nhs & in private practice do not have a ‘core profession’ but are still accredited & qualified cbt therapists. I have since trained in a different modality but still keep my accreditation with the BABCP up to date

Could you provide more info green? For instance what was your academic background before training? Didn’t you still have to meet KSA?
This is taken from the link you gave,
Sorry for all the questions but I am genuinely curious.

“To get a place on a training course, you'll need a registered qualification at graduate level in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling, psychotherapy or clinical psychology. If you don't have one of these qualifications, you'll have to provide a portfolio of evidence showing that your skills, experience and competencies meet the BABCP's Knowledge Skills and Attitude (KSA) requirements.”

I don’t want to post my career history on a public forum. I completed a KSA when I first became accredited as this is necessary if you don’t have a core profession such as nursing, social work etc. The masters in cbt I completed many years ago wasn’t an Iapt training course.

Hello! I know this is an old post but if anyone could help me, I'd be most grateful. I have a degree with a minor in Psychology in Australia, and have worked in advertising for years and now want to train.as a PWP to get into CBT - do I need a trainee job to get into a course or the other way around?
