Can't take new job

I've been approached for a practice nurse job but can't take it as if I did I'd have to pay the trust I work within my mat pay back. Apparently gp practice isn't recognised as nhs Angry

Have you asked them to calculate how much you'd owe once they've taken off any holiday they owe you? You still accrue holiday on mat leave and taking that off the total you owe can make quite a dent in it (depending on what type of mat leave you took and how much)

All together it's about 7 grand so even taking holiday Into account id struggle to pay it

Frustrating Sad but another opportunity will come along when you're ready for it

Until then I have to go back to where I was bullied. Lucky me

If there's any chance of the bullying still being an issue then talk to your union and/or ACAS before you go back and gets yourself some support lined up.

I thought you only had to be back for 3 months? So by the time you have worked your notice, you will be nearly there anyway.

TuftedLadyGrotto · 12/04/2018 19:41

There's no requirement to pay it up front. You can negotiate to pay it back in installments. Say that anything else would put you in "financial hardship".

I'm due back July and new job would start then. I was hoping to go straight to new job.

Accept new job. Return from mat leave ASAP and you'll have done your 3 months. You only need to give current employment 2 weeks notice to return, they can't stop you!

My child is only 6 months old. I'm not going back to that hellhole earlier

Could you go back now maybe for a week or two then go to your doctor and be signed off on sick due to work stress? All the while raising a grievance? It's not exactly the best way to go about it but at least you will get out of there

TuftedLadyGrotto · 12/04/2018 22:24

Technically you can go straight from maternity leave to sick leave. I did, but I had broken a leg.
