I don't really know were to start. I suffer from postnatal depression and my aniexty has been so bad i have been put on aniexty tablets.

I am working upto 30hours a week but my work has started to notice a number of mistakes or things i'm missing as im under so much pressure. I want to hand my notice but not sure if i will be entitled to anything, i live with my partner so i know i cant get income support.

I have been applying for lots of jobs but not heard anything yet. Any advice would be great. Thanks

Appointment with gp to discuss how you are feeling?

Is your partner supportive?

SnowiestMountain · 25/03/2018 22:18

Can you afford to hand your notice in? If you can then do, but if not it might just add to the stress. I'd see your GP in either case Thanks

You would be better to go off sick and take any sick pay your company will pay. Only after you have exhausted all your suck pay entitlement woukd you be able to claim contributions based esa.

I don't know what kind of environment you work in but talking to your manager might help. When I became unwell in December I wanted to leave my job because I felt like I had let people down. I was off for four weeks.

I would Take annual leave or sick leave until you are well again until I was well again and maybe seek counselling or treatment.

I know my doctor will probably sign me off work. Can't afford to be signed off as I wont get paid.

My partner has his moments but overall he is supportive.

Im not sure if i can afford too. I wont have to pay childcare etc. I think i might call citizens advice to see what the best step forward is.

Have you spoken to your manager about this?

You refer to pressure - is that from work or external to work?

What would make things better?

How long have you been on the tablets - some take quite a while to really kick in. Can you go back to your gp to discuss?

retirednow · 25/03/2018 22:29

Would you consider taking some annual leave to have a bit of a rest then asking if you can reduce your hours. Is your doctor helping you deal with your depression and anxiety other than just tablets.

My manager i aware of how im feeling but she is still putting pressure on me.

I had a week off to try and refresh and it didnt make me feel any better.

Im on mirtazapine and propranolol and i have been offered councillors.

You'll probably find that you end up feeling the same way in your new job. Brain fog, panic, forgetting things.

You'd be better to see your gp every 2 weeks until you're stable at the right dose of tablets and speak to your manager at your current work.

You can ask for reasonable adjustments to be made to help support you to stay in work.
I really think leaving without another job to go to will make things even worse for your anxiety in the long run.

Cross posted there, I see your manager is aware and you've had time off and you feel it hasn't helped.

I will say that Propanol is excellent (for me) but Mirtazapine made me Zombie like, sleepy and made it very difficult to process new things at work and remember much.

I don't think being on both these tablets is a good idea.

Personally I'd focus on getting the anxiety under control and you'll be amazed at the difference in how you feel. The depression can be a result of the constant anxiety.

I wonder if MIND can offer any support and advice on the work/benefits side of things for you?
