Is anyone a Maternity Support Worker?

I'm currently on ESA due to depression but I want to start looking at the future and getting I to something I would enjoy.

I always wanted to be a midwife but I'm not able to do the training and I don't think I could cope with that level of responsibility.

Whilst looking last night I saw MSW as an alternative.

Can anyone tell me what the role is like?

Do I have to drive? I don't, and really don't have the income to have lessons right now, let alone buy and insure a car.

My friend is a MSW, she works on an antenatal ward, so she deals with the patients who haven't had their babies yet. Depending on the patients mobility/situation etc, she may help them with personal care, or depending on the hospitals policies, she may take their observations, blood pressure etc. Some hospitals don't allow the band 2 or 3s to do it, it has to be the nurses. She basically does the same as she used to do when she worked on a general ward with me.
When I was in hospital having a baby, the MSW weren't allowed to do anything to me or the baby regarding medicines/injections.
