Hi everyone,
Is anyone able to advise?

I'm a Business Management Graduate and spent the last 2 years in various admin/co-coordinator roles. I am so unhappy and I know what i really want to get into, That's Events Management / Wedding Organiser! I would love to get into this but I'm 25 have a left it too late to change career? Can anyone suggest ways of getting a step into this profession (I can't afford not to work so unpaid work is a big no) Confused

Thanks for any advise given, I appreciate any responses. Smile

You’ve not left it too late! Have you thought about working in Events in a hotel to start with? It can be a good place to get experience?

Definitely not too late - another option would be to talk to agencies and make it very clear you're looking for admin roles with an element of event planning and organisation (I've had several of these, they definitely exist!). When you've got enough experience of the 'nuts and bolts' of the business you can start looking for more specialised roles.

I started out in secretarial/project coordinator role then moved across to event manager role on secondment and carried on up the ladder doing bigger and better roles. It's a great job the only negative is once you have a family it's a difficult role to continue full time as events have anti social hours and travelling. I have eventually managed to find a part time event/PA role after a career break. If I was back in my 20s I may have gone down a communications/PR route as there are more opportunities and it's more regular hours. The key to getting out if pure admin roles is to work in a company that develops and promotes internally and offers a variety of roles internally that would interest you. I got my break in a 100 employee consultancy.
