Do I have to work the week's notice?

Started a job money an unskilled min wage job. The buses are running late each night and I'm waiting 1hr and 10mins after my shift ends at 5pm and not getting in til 6.45pm after walking from the bus stop. I took the job assuming bus would not be an hour late!

It's also freezing cold no heating in the warehouse and I'm stood up the whole shift so feet are like ice so making them hurt.

Anyway it's not working out for me and I have another job to go to. It says I have to give a week's notice. If I give notice but not work it will I still get paid for this week I'm doing?

Can they not pay? Doesn't say anything in the contract.

Ideally I'd not like to work it because I'm gonna be half dead by the time I start my new job (active/cleaning role) which I've done for 7 years prior to this new job I'm used to that and it's warm work! I don't want to hurt my feet any more than this week if poss.

The extreme cold is also affecting my type 1 diabetes making my sugars run really high for some reason which doesn't help with the leg and feet pain as I have mild nerve damage from it.

Thanks if you can advise.

You won’t get paid for your week’s notice if you don’t work it.

You've been there less than a week so presumably still in your probationary period?

My company insists on a week for every year you've worked up to 4 years after that it's just a months notice.

I'd just let them know I was leaving if you don't need them for a reference.

My company do charge you if you leave before 3 months for the cost of your training and uniform if you fail to return it. Is something like that specified in your contract?

If that were me I would hand my notice in and call in sick for the week. Do a self cert. And never go back.

I know I won't get paid for the weeks notice if I don't work it what I mean is this week will I get paid for that?

I have no uniform or no training and nothing like that in the contract.

Sorry - I didn’t read your OP properly. Blush Yes, you should get paid for the week you’ve worked

Thank you I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

I'm in so much pain with my feet as they've been ice cold all day and well I could start my new job next week if I wanted so would suit me better.

I also know there's someone currently wanting to work there so sure I'll easily be replaced
