Would the Ministry of Justice consider this cheeky?

So I applied for a AO role last year and went for the interview in May. I was told I did not get it. I started my current role in a call Centre, debt collecting . I work long shifts, full time. My 5 year old son goes to after school club and my one year old daughter is in a nursery opposite me, full time.
Fast forward to February, I get offered the job and I’ve sent off my details for security vetting. Now the thing is, I applied for the role, full time. When I started working in my current job, I was made to understand by my manager that I can apply for flexible time after my 6th month which would be April. I’m very excited about the job offer from the civil Service as it’s more pay and what I’ve always wanted to do. Only thing is I just don’t know if I’m ready to wait out another 6 months probation before applying to vary or reduce hours. My daughter has fallen ill a lot since October.
I was wondering if I could inform them that I’d like to work only 4x a week or reduced hours only. My reason being that since I applied for the job, my circumstances have changed. What do you think? Thank you x

In the CS, you are asked several times if you are looking for full time , part time, and/or flexible hours. It tends to be at the time of submitting your role application, plus again at your interview. I think you could feasibly also bring the matter up if and when when they make the successful candidate a formal offer.

That signals that they are very much an equal opportunities employer and willing to consider alternative hours.

So I think you stand a good chance of having your request considered favourably. Thing is to give them the details as soon as possible if it is a change to what you'd already discussed. Just explain your circs have changed but you're still keen on the role.

Sorry, when I said "you" in the first para, I meant it as a general rule rather than you , iyswim.
