Being bullied at work and just found out I’m pregnant

I posted a thread a few days back about being bullied at work, and I have today found out I am pregnant.

I am worried sick. I was sure they were already trying to push me out or make me leave, but now this has happened I am almost sure of it.

They are a small business, so it will have a huge effect for someone to go on mat leave. This happened before with someone and they made them redundant. Where would I stand with regards to maternity pay/leave?

This can’t be good for me to be worrying so much already!

Do they give you statutory maternity pay only? If yes then I don't think you have to go back after your mat leave & you wouldn't have to pay any back

& congrats on your pregnancy Flowers

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

As soon as you tell your employer about your pregnancy, you are theoretically protected from pregnancy discrimination. However, this doesn’t mean you cannot be disciplined and effectively managed out of the company a different way. So you might want to weigh up when to tell them.

Whatever hours you work during weeks 17 to 25 of your pregnancy will determine your eligibility for maternity pay. Does your company give you an enhanced pay or is it just SMP?

Thank you Smile There is nothing in my contract about maternity pay. They are crooks. I’m so worried Confused

You have to be over 25 weeks pregnant when you are made redundant to still get SMP from your employer but I think you could claim maternity allowance if you are made redundant before then.

I would start keeping a diary of their behaviour and also put all queries you have about the maternity policy in writing.
