a recent staff survey at my office said 80 per cent of staff felt supported (ie 20 per cent didn't); similarly only 60 oddpercent felt they had enough authority and enough training. are these results good or less than satisfactory?

where I work 80% would be a bloody mircale

suejonez · 02/05/2007 10:53

do I work at the same place as you Enid?

suejonez · 02/05/2007 10:54

no-one ever feels they have enough authority or training unless they are "management" when they don;t think they need training

CuriousSquid · 02/05/2007 10:57

depends on the number of employees really. if you had 5 employees and only 1 didn't feel supported then its ok.

appaling

Surveys are tricky things. 80% is a good result for feeling supported.

If you answer that you have enough training, it could be interpreted as saying you have no ambition to be trained further.

It is much easier to evaluate changes over time - e.g. if last year 50% felt they had enough authority, then 60% is a good result, or differences between departments.

Also the exact phrasing of the question can have a decisive effect.

Without more context, it is hard to say if 60% is good.

Where I work 20% would be a miracle.
