Project Managers, can you help please?

I'm up for a contract interview on Friday, as a training project co-ordinator.

One skill which is desirable is 'Experience of the PRINCE project management methodology'.

I've managed development and training projects before using different project management software, but not used PRINCE (which they do know). I'm off to do a load of research on it now, but can anyone point me in the direction of some info so I can at least talk about it?

Thanks in anticipation

Blackduck · 28/07/2004 11:09

Easy · 28/07/2004 11:14

Thanks Blackduck

It's an NHS post, to do with the National Project for I.T.

sounds good...I've done some work with them on the ECDL stuff (I'm a Tech Trainer by trade...)

Easy · 28/07/2004 11:22

ah ha, me too, Technical trainer for 17 years man and boy (iyswim),MCT since 1996. I've seen more versions of windows come and go than you've had hot dinners, not to mention accounting software. But the hip problem of last year means I try to get more management stuff now, just so I can spend less time on my hind legs.

Like to get back in the classroom now and then tho'

SO where are you based? I work for a training company (well will until end of Aug....) Just thinking may have come across you!

I used to work with people using PRINCE and there are a lot of websites - but most project managers have skills that would be transferable to PRINCE. You could offer to qualify in PRINCE whils working for them (they might pay). There are different stages (if I remember right Foundation and Practitioner) And loads of books the main one from HMSO and then pocket books and other stuff.

Hi, thanks for the advice both. I don't think they'll pay for a contractor to qualify in PRINCE, but it would give me some exposure to it, never a bad thing.

Blackduck, I'm based in Nottingham, and have freelanced since 1994.

Until ds was born I worked EVERYWHERE, clients in Sandwich and Fort William!
Since then my style has been cramped a bit, so I was really part-time.

Then last year I had hip surgery which went wrong, so It's been a long climb back.

dh is a contract software developer, currently on contract in Uxbridge. If I can get this NHS one, he can come home, do childcare and take a break from wage-surfing for a bit (this last year has been VERY hard on him), and I think we'll both be happier. I'm finding part-time single parenting very depressing actually.
