Sick on KIT day

Can anyone please clarify this for me? I
work for the NHS just back from mat leave . Checked my staff record today and a
Kit day which I cancelled ( due to catching noro from my ward on previous kit day !) has been marked on my official sick record . They have also put me down as 3 days absence as I didn't ring in "fit for work as per policy" till 3 days after my kit day was booked .
As far as I'm aware kit days are not mandatory therefore how can I be marked as officially sick and unavailable to work when I was ion official maternity leave and it was my choice to work or not ? Have checked maternity action and I appear to be correct in my thinking. Could really do without going back with 3 days sickness recorded already ! My immune system appears to be shot from pregnancy and rather wish i hadn't bothered with kit days now !

This does seem really petty on their side, and I’d be annoyed too.
However I’m not sure how this works, as I think you get paid for kit days? But it is petty for them to take three days sickness when you only missed one.
Hopefully someone will be along with better advice shortly....

KIT days are optional surely? They need to remove it from your record as shouldn’t count.

I work in payroll for a very large well known company. Any KIT days are at the employees discretion, therefore, if they are to cancel/re-arrange then that's all the action required.

For our employees, that would not be noted on their record. They would simply re-schedule and come in another day to complete their KIT.

You can’t be on sick and maternity at the same time and it should go down as part of your maternity leave.

Also, our employees are paid the difference between their 'normal' working days pay and SMP. So for example if they are usually paid £80 per day while not on MAT leave, they would receive £51.81 or thereabouts. Closing up the gap between SMP and usual working wage.
