Crafting business

Ive had a dream for 10 years to start a small business crafting and selling jewellery. Ive dabbled in it before and am fairly proficient at making jewellery but i was put off by knowing literally nothing about starting and running a business. If I'm going to do it i want to do it right, has anyone started a successful craft business from home and can give me any pointers or resources that i can look at for what i may need to consider? Is it beneficial to do some sort of course on running a small business? I don't currently have any funds at all but i do have the materials required to make things so that's a start.

It would be nice to eventually be able to do it full time but am happy to take the time to build it from the ground up. I would aim for it to be online and eventually my ultimate dream would be to have a bricks and mortar workshop/shop but that would be years into the future.

There are often courses run locally for help with running a business. There is a lot to learn, from trading legally to tax returns. I run a full time craft type business. The one thing I will say is, it has never been a hobby to me, and you will find competition hard if you want to earn a decent living. Even more so in jewellery as there are thousands and thousands of people selling it and happy to earn £2 an hour. Etsy is a good place to start for little outlay. It took me three years to earn close to a full time income, although I was and still am working every hour available, often across seven days a week. At least now my pay reflects the hours I do, but it was year five before that happened. I did have some investment and the first two years I paid myself next to nothing so I could reinvest profits. It is by far the most difficult job I have ever done, but I wouldn't change it.
