I am confused I cant seem to pinpoint if it is the Maternity and Parental Leave, etc Regulations 1999 or the Employment Rights Act 2010 that hold information regarding maternity rights. Or am I completely wrong and there is another law? Smile

I think the maternity and parental leave act gives the statutory leave and pay, and then the equality act deals with protection from discrimination due to maternity.

Apologies for my typos above blush Thank you for the help! After further research I have found that the Employment Rights Act 1996* holds substantial amounts of information with regards to maternity entitlements. It is extremely confusing seeing as websites generally highlight the rights that women have and not were the rights have been derived from.

What is it specifically you are looking for? The Employment Rights Act is the enabling legislation for the maternity and parental leave regs, and there is also the social security act/SMP regs in relation to SMP. And as a PP said the Equality Act covers protection from discrimination
