Would you mention that you volunteered for three months for a 'Save Our NHS' type charity, as part of your uni course?
It taught me lots about the finance side of the NHS, and contracts and CCG budgets and things like that, which would be very relevant to the role (especially as I have very limited finance experience, though am doing a stats heavy degree). Have worked in the NHS in a healthcare type role all my life.
BUT the charity's focus, and my work, was very much on researching the negatives of privatisation and campaigning against it (although I didn't do any actual campaigning, I was involved in research and creating reports).
Would this be seen as me being too political, or a sign that I wouldn't do my job properly and just wanted to come in and change things?
I do want to change things obviously, and am against privatisation, but my job wouldn't really be one where I could change that, so I'd just do my best to save the NHS money within my job scope.
I've gone for NHS roles since, and spoke about the placement proudly, but then I was interviewing with GP practice managers or such like for a completely different role - so it just showed my dedication to the NHS without much else considered.
Application's due in today and I really want it, so any advice would be most appreciated
