I finish at the end of January.

Handed my notice in on Wednesday.

My boss asked me why I was leaving and I told them I had heard about another job

He asked me when I knew I’d got the job and I said the day before (Tuesday). Which is the truth.

He asked to see the email they sent.

The thing is they sent it on Tuesday at 10.01am and I replied at half ten on my phone.

No po,icy about not using phone it’s an admin job.

But I don’t want to have him be horrible to me because I answered that email.

Do I have to let him see the email they sent me? It came to my personal email address and I never looked at it on a work pc.

No holidays. Leave year is to end dec
You’ll accue for January though, although they may take the NY day into account if you had that off.

As others have said, state clearly, I have confirmed my leave date, that I’m formally ending my employment and that I am
working more than the required notice, there isn’t anything further I am required to give you stop being a dickhead

You are giving the required notice. You are doing nothing wrong. It doesn't matter your reasons for leaving, or when you decided to leave as long as you've given required notice.

Good luck with your last week, he sounds awful.

If he keeps pushing for the info, I would just keep pushing back with a question of 'but why do you need to see it?' and 'it's completely irrelevant' and 'where in my contract does it say that I must show you my personal post?'

'I can't, it's against the rules' is another one that you could try that might baffle him as to which rules... (your rules as it happens!) because you can then follow it up with 'I'm not going to break the rules'.

Would his dad support him in asking for this info from you?

His dad doesn’t come in to the office every day (he’s in his 70s this bloke is in his 40s).

Here’s hoping he doesn’t ask me today.

Do you get paid time off at Christmas? I wonder if he thinks you knew then but wanted to take advantage of that? Though, I’m not sure what difference he thinks it would make.

We have to use leave at Christmas to take the week off so it’s not that.

Agree (I work in payroll/HR) he has no right to see anything. If there is a non compete clause in your contract (which has to be reasonable) he may have the right to know who or what you will be moving into but nothing else.

Whatcan - of course it's legal to have to use leave at Christmas. How else could it work?

We close for two weeks at Christmas. Everyone has to save 10 days holiday to use.

Some factories used to have shutdown week in June or August. Workers had to use annual leave.

Employees get 28 days holiday a year, that's 5.6 weeks. Take off 8 bank holidays & even with two weeks shutdown at Christmas (1 week in the OP's case) that's still over two weeks holiday to take elsewhere. It's very common for employers to set holidays, anyone working in education for example (not just teachers other services) often have set holiday times.

But this isn't relevant to the OP who is under no obligation to show her current employer private emails.
