Bank care work

Hi
So I have an interview for a bank care assistant post.
It is at a nursing home , with from what I have heard and seen good reviews.(know this can mean nothing though)
I am a first year student nurse, but came into nursing with little hands on experience (love the course so far though).
I have had one placement so far on my degree, in a neighbouring nursing home which was excellent.
So, does anyone have tips for my interview and for doing the job? i'm a bit nervous
I've done the pmva, manual handling etc and want the job because a) I really liked my placement and the residents, and want further work with the elderly as it will be v useful (adult field)
b) I want to boost my experience to make me a better nurse, and learn how to be good at caring
I also have no bursary, very low student loan due to parental income and need to start being able to support myself. Bank working is ideal due to placements.
Thankyou x

I agree that bank work is best placed to give you an income as a student nurse as you can fit shifts round uni commitments & placements (my daughter is currently 3rd year student nurse and has worked bank at a nearby unit since she started).

I've no real tips for interview I'm afraid but the very fact that you're a student nurse, have already had a placement in a nursing home and are very keen to further your experience will probably be enough! Show that you are up to speed on issues like safeguarding, confidentiality, mental capacity, consent (or at least that you are aware that these are pertinent issues in elderly care - do a bit of online research if necessary) and that you work well as a team and can talk about what you might find challenging about the job and why you want to do the job and you should be fine!
