Hi there. I've been asked to do some consultancy in Lisbon for a few days. On emailing my invoice they advised I'd need to fill out a MOD 21 RFI Portuguese tax form. This is apparently quite standard and to stop me being liable from paying tax in Portugal. The trouble is, the form (5 pages long!) is very difficult to decipher. It's not so much a language issue, more a jargon one. It's translated into English but not so it makes sense (if that makes sense). I don't speak Portuguese.
Apparently HMRC also need to stamp it, and I need to fill it out in triplicate. Anyone dealt with this kind of thing with HMRC? Are they generally sympathetic to helping fill out a form like this?
Google not helping at all. I wondered if anyone here could shed some light. Happy to even pay a small fee if that's what it takes to have half an hour on the phone with someone...?
I'm not a mega bucks earner and this isn't a huge project (to warrant hiring a specialist accountant). The client aren't able to help either (have asked). In case it's not obvious, I'm a UK citizen / tax payer.
Help! :)
Thanks so much.
