Junior Doctor in Ireland in the 2000s. Sat 8am to Monday 7-8pm. My first ever shift was 7am Monday to 9pm Tuesday, with one meal, a few cups of water and around 3 trips to the bathroom. I think I got home and cried when I realised what I'd got myself into! Finished my last ever 36 hour shift at 28 weeks pregnant.

Now as a senior doctor in the UK I still do weekends on call but it's not all in house.

1pm to 7:30 am as a nurse in charge of a critical care unit after the night staff went off sick.

Regularly used to do 7:30 - 21:30, even while pregnant.

Then went into management and occasionally found myself writing board reports at 1am after a full day. Gotta love the NHSConfused

2pm til 5am when I was allowed to go for two hours sleep in a spare room til 7am when i needed to come back down. Got away at 9am. Not as long as some on here but I was only told at 11pm during my shift that I had to stay so completely unprepared.

8am to 5am. Shift was 8-2pm in a nursing home. Staff nurse due on at 2pm to take over didn't turn up so had to cover her shift. Then the night duty staff nurse didn't turn up at 8pm. Couldn't get hold of manager asked the agency to keep trying they eventually turned up at 5 am.
I had a wedding to attend at 12md. I looked ill. The wedding was fantastic so made up for everything.

24 hours.
It was in a care home.i had an afternoon shift from 1pm to 7pm,but they were short staffed for the waking night shift from 7pm to 7am,so I said I’d do that shift.then at 7am we had two no shows for the morning shift, and they couldn’t get anyone to fill in so I was asked to stay until 1pm.
Pretty sure it was illegal.but they put me on laundry duty.
