Does anyone know any good work from home jobs?
I am 11 weeks pregnant and want a job that gives me flexibility and some money for baby?
Thank you for any suggestions

Depends on what skills you have. What do you do now? Is it anything that you could do freelance/from a distance? Will this be your main source of income?

Whatever you do don't get involved in any multi level marketing scam. Way to lose friends and money.

NeilTheSloth · 12/12/2017 09:45

If you need the flexibility does your skill set have good freelance opportunities?
If you WFH, during your working hours you will need childcare, that part is easily disregarded/people think WFH is the solution to their childcare problem (ie they think they won’t need any).

As @Ragusa mentioned, whatever you do, never do or become a victim of Multilevel marketing (MLM) jobs...its a scam

I would highly recommend Upwork.com to look for freelancer jobs. it legitimate and you can work from home.

Why are Mumsnetters so anti MLMs? FWIW I am not involved with one but my sister is and it's a product she loves. She gets the products she uses paid for and makes a little extra on the side for not a lot of effort. It's probably not the answer if you want a serious income but I don't think they are all bad....

mumworkingfromhome · 19/12/2017 19:18

@gigi556 In MLMs they use the customers as agents for marketing. In that process, they put pressure on those customers. So, the customers Unreasonably try to push a product to their family and friends making themselves repulsive. They lose their friends. On the other hand, mot of the MLM products are scam (sorry to say).

Another factor is, if its a freelance service provider jobs like doing some data entry or online marketing etc. the effort is relatively less for making money online. One can be sure of the money part. There is no pushing someone to "sell a snake oil" involved like how it is in MLM.

I don't get what pressure his applied tho? If someone threatened me to force me to try to sell stuff for them, just because I had bought something once, I'd tell them to get lost, or contact the police (depending how serious they seemed), I wouldn't start passing on that unpleasantness to friends.

Is it really that much pressure, on customers? Or are we talking people who have joined as sellers instead, and the pressure being that they want to earn a lot?

gigi556 · 19/12/2017 19:56

@mumworkingfromhome I guess some people who join MLMs are pushy... I would argue though that they aren't all the same... as in some products are better than others and some sales people more pushy than others. No, there isn't a guarantee of income but I do think they have a place if A) you love the products and B) are just looking to make a bit extra on the side.

I really don't have a problem with them. They are not the answer for everyone but I think it's unfair to say they are a scam or all total crap. We may just have to agree to disagree!

Ragusa · 19/12/2017 22:43

I have a massive problem with MLM, even those who use them to make "a little money on the side". This is because the seller is almost always exploiting the goodwill of their friends and relatives. No one is forcing anyone to buy, it's a lot more insidious than that.
And almost always the sellers are being 'paid' way under national minimum wage.

Plus, many of the main ones use unethical deeply regressive marketing strategies to recruit their victims 'business partners'... "something to fit around the kids" "put he family first and earn at the same time". Hell no! I would like a proper job thanks and don't imply through your marketing that childcare is wimminfolk's work.
