Just be very careful, self-diagnosed experts generally spout all sorts of bullshit.

Better off changing your name, and a few key details to get advice that is visible and can be challenged.

Thanks for the warning. I’m too worried that someone involved will see the post and it will make the situation worse. They key detail I need advice on can’t be changed without changing the likely outcome unfortunately.

Why don't you contact the ACAS Helpline? Or Citizens Advice. Both have excellent websites. CAB also has local branches if you need free confidential advice.

Also have you scanned back through previous posts on this board to see if any previous posters have received relevant advice? Most employment situations have been covered over the years.

My point isn't that a HR professional wouldn't have answers, but that anyone can say they are a HR professional and nobody would know whether you are or not.

I won’t give advice via PM either.

The thing about posting on a thread is that it is not professional advice (even if the information given is given professionally!). There is also the benefit of visibility so if you make a mistake it usually gets spotted - so it’s in everyone’s best interest to keep it on the boards.

One to one advice is a very different thing and requires much more careful and considered thought. It also takes time which (for me) is chargeable because that’s work and not a bit of casual posting on the boards. Half arsed advice would compromise my insurance and that would compromise my business.

Op if you can’t keep it general then ACAS as suggested can be helpful. Their advice is specific to you and free.
