Feedback from interview

Long story short (ish)

I was employed in a department on a temp 3 month rolling contract and was in post for 18 months. During this time I was a vital part of the team and was given a lot of responsibility above my pay grade ( I am a responsible and reliable worker). Unfortunately, the team was run by a psychopath (in the true sense of the word) who was not only a useless manager but a vile bully and fraudster to boot. A number of staff got together and spoke up about her behaviour. This resulted in the manager becoming more vile and defensive. The upshot being she terminated my contract even though it left the department below critical staffing levels. She told the rest of the team I was terminated because she'd spoken to my previous employer who said they had sacked me for gross misconduct! This is a complete fabrication, I may add!

This dragon has since been investigated and her disciplinary hearing is this Wednesday.

Ok, we're four months down the line and they advertise my old post. I apply as do 2 internal applicants and one external. I am, by far, the most qualified for the job. All four applicants are invited to interview. They requested we prepare a presentation and then the panel would interview us. I prepared and delivered a relevant presentation and the rest of the interview went really well.

I was quietly confident as it had gone so swimmingly. I was pretty upset when I got the call telling me I was unsuccessful. My flabber was then truly gasted when I found out they had offered the job as a job share to the two internal candidates and also offered the external candidate a part time contract.

The three staff that interviewed me are loyal to the psycho manager because she knows where the bodies are buried. They were all in on the fraudulent claiming of expenses, et al, and none of them wanted investigators poking around. I also think the psycho manger is still pulling their strings hence no chance of her wanting me back.

When is was told I hadn't got the job, I asked why not and the interviewer told me he couldn't give me any feedback. I want to know what crap they come up with as to why I didn't get the job. I was thinking of writing something like this but was wondering is it
A) too confrontational
B) desperate
C) should I just forget about it, move on and not give the thieving little fuckers the satisfaction of knowing how gutted I am????

I would be grateful if you could supply me with a feedback form please. I am aware I was the only candidate from the interview process not to be offered a position. As a candidate, I met all the person specifications. I am experienced and was the most versatile candidate as I have skills across three modalities. As the only applicant currently working in and with proven experience in a Band 6 role and also offering full flexibility with regard to the hours, days and locations that I would be available to work, it must be that I made a number of critical errors during my interview.

I would appreciate if you could highlight the areas of weakness and the errors and omissions that led to me failing where the other candidates succeeded.

Thanks, MNetters.

I can fully appreciate your frustration but I think you really need to move on.
Effectively ( through no fault of your own) you were sacked and I'm very surprised you had the front to apply for a job at your old company aand I'm equally surprised they interviewed you at all.
For whatever reason they don't want you there and have made this very very clear so in your shoes I would just forget about that company
Sounds like a toxic environment in any case

Hi,
Thanks for your advice. I did send a request for feedback and this is what I got:

I am happy to give you some constructive feedback. I did not review the others feedback comments as I was not the chair interviewer.
I remember on one point you contradicted yourself. Your presentation was regarding compassion and treating people individually but when asked how you would act in your senior role you stated you would treat everyone exactly the same.
I am sorry you were unsuccessful this time but we welcome future applications should a new post arise.

A load of bollocks. It upset me because I loved my job and the job satisfaction I got from helping our patients. It's just a shame it is run by a bunch of self-serving managers only interested in what they can get out of it with no thought for their staff on the front line nor patients.

I'm supposed to be giving evidence at this Toxic Troll's disciplinary tomorrow. My husband says I shouldn't bother. I do agree that it's a waste of my time and as the incompetence of her seniors and the other managers is at risk of being laid bare, I'm pretty confident that they will quash the disciplinary and no action will be taken against her. I did want the opportunity to have it recorded that her reason for terminating me was a total lie but I think that only matters to me - they couldn't give a toss either way.

You're right. I need to move on and know I'm better off out of there.
